We did it! We turned Tarrant County RED!
We elected every Republican judge on our ballot. We re-elected our amazing Sheriff, Bill Waybourn. We even flipped a Constable seat from blue to red. Ted Cruz will return to the Senate. Most importantly, our next President will be Donald J. Trump!
I would like to talk about how we did that and give you a breakdown of the results we saw.
When I ran for this position, I told you I believed Tarrant County was headed in the wrong direction. Most people believed it was a matter of time before we turned blue.
Well, I vehemently disagreed with that. I believe that bold leadership, coupled with a bold vision, could not just reverse course, but put us on the path to grow Tarrant County into a Republican Stronghold.
Since I was elected, almost exactly a year ago, I have raised over $1 million. I did that by formulating this plan and then selling that to many first-time donors.
These are people who have never given to our party. I plan to continue to expand our donor base to even more people. What we did here this November gives me the platform to do that.
Our campaign for Tarrant County worked. We went from Democrats winning by 0.2% to Donald Trump winning by 5.2%. We increased Sheriff Bill Waybourn’s margin of victory by over 2%. Remember, he was the radical left’s number one target locally. And David Woodruff won his Constable seat in an area that had been Democrat – a 5.1% swing.
Blockwalking is one of the most effective tactics in a campaign. I had an ambitious goal of knocking doors in the entire county. In precincts where we were able to knock, we saw an average of 8.75% swing for Republicans. In the precincts we didn’t knock, we lost as much as 2 points.
The ground game is critical in any campaign. This is an area where we stepped it up big time. Thanks to the army of Precinct Chairs and volunteers, who not only knocked on doors but made phone calls and spoke to voters at the polls. They were responsible for over 250,000 voter contacts. Far and away a record.
But we did even more. In David Woodruff’s Constable precinct, a democrat-heavy area we augmented what the volunteers were doing with some professional block walkers. This alone allowed us to contact 15,000 more voters. His vote total increased by over 11,000. It worked.
Next, we had a very targeted mail program. We didn’t just blanket the county with the same mailers. We crafted persuasion mailers specifically for low-propensity and swing voters. We were able to leverage lower costs than candidates or individuals which allowed each dollar to go much farther. Over 230,000 voters were contacted.
Another first for the Tarrant County GOP, we used sophisticated targeting of low propensity and swing voters and sent almost 700,000 texts. Early on this was for persuasion, but later for get out the vote (GOTV).
In another first, we ran an unprecedented digital advertising program. We targeted the same low-propensity and swing voters and ran messaging to people streaming content. We even ran a special ad in David Woodruff’s precinct. Our digital program put our message in front of voters 1.4 million times.
As with any campaign, there were some other items that don’t seem as sexy. We printed 180k push cards and slates for poll greeters. We put out 5,000 Trump signs along with thousands of Cruz signs. And we even did some polling to adjust our messaging.
Make no mistake, this was a complex and sophisticated campaign. We raised and spent a record amount of money. We were able to deploy that money more efficiently than any one campaign could have, and we showed that the Tarrant County GOP could have a huge effect on the direction of our county. In the end, we were able to contact voters over 2.6 million times.
Ladies and gentlemen, we did what our detractors and opponents said we couldn’t do. I want to thank everyone who volunteered, phone banked, door knocked, and donated. Every one of you played a role and you deserve praise.
While we won, we are just getting started. I want to make sure we fortify our dominance in Tarrant County.
We have the blueprint, the experience, and now the proof that we can do it. I plan to repeat this success in the May elections and in preparation for the 2026 midterm elections.
I will use the same formula. It will take a combination of blockwalking, mail, texts and digital coupled with the support of donors like you.
We just demonstrated we can have historic victories.
